Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into fame in 1994, after she debuted her first album Age Ain't Nothing But A Number. Her album, which was made available at just 15 years old was certified Gold. R. Kelly heavily influenced this collaboration, and helped to bring the artist into the spotlight. In the year 1996 Jermaine and Timbaland came out with Aaliyah's sophomore album One In A Million. It contained If Your Girls Only Knew, the top-selling single. The second album of Aaliyah called One in a million was released in 1996. It contained the number-one hit single"If You Girl Only Knew. Aaliyah appeared alongside legendary Jet-Li, the famous martial artist in Romeo Must Die (2000) the action and romantic film. Joel Silver, a film producer, who was attending an award show in which she was cast, noticed her. In 2002, she appeared in the vampire movie Queen of the Damned based on the Anne Rice book. The year 2003 saw her starred as a character in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. She received four nominations at the Grammy Awards in 1999, 2001 and 2002. Aarti Mann is the first generation Indian-American from Connecticut. Mann is her stage name. Mann is a short form of her marriage name Mankad. Aarti Magnumdar, her professional name. However, she has also used Aarti Magumdar for her stage name. Though her first career was dominated by minor movie and TV parts, she gained notoriety in the late 2000s. The actress has also been featured in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy as well as Grey's Anatomy. She has appeared in numerous commercials, including Volvo's global car maker. She is currently working on her acting career at Los Angeles, where she lives with her husband and daughter.
