Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz who was birthed within Winona Minnesota. Her parents, Winona Ryder's parents, chose her name after her hometown. Michel Horowitz was her father as well as Cynthia Palmer, his mother are both authors and editors. Ryder is a Jew. Ryder believes that her father had a Jewish background.
