April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star in the US is part of a select group of women who have won medals in more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman is a new Olympian and will join her in Tokyo. Ross hopes to win more than her initial Olympic medal. In fact, at 39, it could be her last opportunity to do so. However, she's confident that the top awards are within reach. Ross was quoted in NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your top, even if you perform well, you will win the gold. It's also going to be the result of luck. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and her sister. In Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of activities. She was a basketball player and also ran track, in addition to her indoor volleyball exploits as a prep athlete. But she clearly was a cut above the rest in this latter game. As a high school volleyball career as per her college bio, she was an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. In recognition of her work, she was honored as in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. Also, in 2000 she was recognized as the Orange County Athlete of the Year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman might have started working together in the year 2017, however Ross was an experienced athlete at the beach prior to when they came together. In fact, she won several major championships while playing using two partners, one of whom is an icon of volleyball. In the period 2007 to 2013 she teamed with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Together, Kessy Ross was an ace in the world circuit, winning an international title in 2009. They eventually won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team that could take home the gold. Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. In 2016, the pair were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross played for the Trojans of USC in her the college years following her graduation from high school. It was a successful performance for Ross during her time at the college level. She was a All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss in her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat in the ranks of an All-American. The two years following her she led the Trojans up the mountain and clinched consecutive national championships. In 2003-2004, Ross was named as the most successful collegiate female volleyball player in the United States according to the Honda Sports Award. Ross was an international relations student at USC. Margie Ross did not get to witness Ross achieve beach volleyball's top level. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. She continues to hold her lost parent near and close. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration to her in and out of the water.
